Hi Tom and class!
Right handed golfer here - So, for a while I was slicing my driver pretty hard. After working on the videos in the driver section of this course, I've successfully stopped the slice, HOWEVER, now I am constantly pulling the ball left.
I'm thinking one reason I might be pulling it left is my lead shoulder at address. I've noticed that my lead shoulder at address tends to be more forward than my trail shoulder, meaning that my shoulders aren't "square" I believe? I think I need to push that lead shoulder back in order to make my shoulders straight in a line aimed at the target.
Would the left/lead shoulder forward be a reason for pulling my shots left? Thanks in advance!!!
Hi @Aaron R!
There are a variety of causes for pulled shots. Have you confirmed your shoulder alignment with video? If not, that's what I would suggest first as we don't want to risk adjusting things only to later find out they were not the culprit after all. To verify, take a down-the-line video with the camera aimed along your foot line (and not the target line). Be sure to have parallel alignment sticks on the ground as well - one for the target line and the other for the foot line. This will definitely reveal to you whether or not your shoulders are closed to the target.
Also, when asking questions pertaining to ball flight it's best to provide both the starting direction of the shot (push, straight, or pull) as well as the direction and degree of curvature (draw/hook, straight, fade/slice). This enables us to utilize the Shot Shaping Grid to determine the clubface condition and path at impact, thereby narrowing down the possibilities.
Thanks!
Tom
