You might also try squeezing your elbows together and then take your grip in order to preset the relationship. This way you won't have to consciously force them into place in your setup.
Hi Jon, I have been working on this as a primary focus along with weight-forward over the last 6 weeks after I took a lesson with Tom. I think working on this can be a very personal dependent feeling when first attempting to keep the arms and elbows together. For me, after a while it has become second nature and I don't even think about the tension, but when I first began to train this that tense feeling felt more pronounced than it does now. Just let the upper body take the arms for a ride when keeping the elbows together.
I will also say that this has made a huge difference in my ball-striking ability and quality (crispiness). I'm also working on the Radial Deviation of the wrists, or as Tom has described in the "Get out and Play" lesson as "pointing the club-shaft down to the ground" in Drill #5. This has made a huge difference for me at least with chipping and pitching, and still trying to implement in my full swing on a consistent basis. Hope that helps.
I stand corrected, I meant to say "Ulnar Deviation, rather than "Radial". Sorry about that.
Love these responses thanks guys!! @rjroll
@jon - @rjroll is spot on in his reply.
