Hello, I have always had huge trouble when setting up to the ball. Can’t ever tell if the club face is open/square/shut. I do what you said in the video, the whole holding the club in front of you and squaring it up. That’s fine, but when I get into address I set my hands forward on the left thigh. And the face moves open, should I preset when I square the face at the start with my hands already forward? I hope this makes sense, thanks.

Not to get ahead of yourself, but if you have a look at the Shot Shaping course and develop some understanding of "The Grid", you will likely find what you are looking for. The short answer is that the face will naturally open to increasing degrees as you move the ball position back in your stance while keeping the hands in their proper spot. You should not try to manipulate the face to square it, because if your path is good you will then be hitting pull hooks all day long. The stock shot shape that we are after is a push-draw, and that can only happen if the face is open to the target line and closed to the downswing path.
Make sense?
