I've watched like 10-20 different grip videos out there on YouTube and they’re all slightly different. It’s driving me nuts!
I’ve struggled to lock down which grip style I should be using for my hands and also where the club should be in my hands as I hold the club. Is it in the palm? The fingers? A bit of both! I have big hands and long fingers btw...
A recent lesson with a PGA professional said that he would ultimately like me to strengthen my grip and have it more in the fingers. He didn't want me to change my grip this season but said that we would ultimately make the change during the winter months. Obviously I didn't wait. I tried changing it on my own and got myself tied up in knots trying to change my grip after the lesson. More in my fingers as I wrap the hand over the club. Problem is, this makes it so you can see almost all of the knuckles on the lead hand because of how large my palm is. This all sounds crazy and I am truly becoming a nut case trying to figure this out!
I've attached 2 videos one more in the fingers and the other slightly more in the palm and fingers. Hopefully you all can see the difference and help a crispy KFC wannabe out!
Thanks for the response Tom! The thing that I struggle with is that I'm flexible enough to place the club strictly in the fingers and allow the middle of the palm to fold over the club handle...if that makes sense. From the looks of the image you attached and also your grip video, the grip is held majorly in the fingers with just the end of the handle running into the palm pad of the hand to allow that one finger balance check.
Also, I have midsize Golf Pride grips on my sticks but am wondering if I should have gone to jumbo. Their size chart on the website has my hand size (8.5") in the midsize if measured but in the jumbo if using a golf glove measurement (for me XXL).
