When I was at the range I noticed that when I was hitting the ball the club was hitting the turn in different places. Not so much behind or in front of ball but sometimes it was closer to me and the ball would go off of the toe. At the range you should keep moving the ball behind the divot and create a bacon strip looking area of missing turf. This did not work for me, I noticed on several hits the patch would get wider and would start looking like a wide area of turf missing. I feel like this is the reason I hit off of the toe quite often. Any help would be appreciated.

I think what is happening is my club is hitting in different areas on the turf. Not forward or back like a chunk but closer to me or farther from me. I think this is causing inconsistency and toe shots.
I may be misunderstanding but are you saying some divots are bigger than others? That could be thin and fat shots or it could be just bad turf at the range. I do believe there is merit in studying divots, but ball flight is your primary feedback. Are you having a particular miss?
