Hi Tom and the other Sugoto golfers,
I have been facing this issue of early extension - when I am half way down on my downswing, my upper body (torso) rises and my head gets up and away from the ball before impact.
Although my arms are straight, and my eyes are on the ball, I am not able to keep my upper body down between half way of the downswing and impact.
I would deeply appreciate if Tom or someone can help me overcome this.
Thanks

@Nocona Colt Abernathy - I'm happy to share my thunder!!
@Tom Saguto First off, Tom! I'm not trying to steal your thunder, lol! 🤣
@sanjay If you want your best results, Tom is your man, so send him your swing in V1! First off, your tilt, turn, and extend on the backswing looks awesome. But, here's your issue. Your hands are active in the takeaway and you get your clubhead behind your hands! That is not good on the takeaway. Then, you lift your arms(your right arms loses the connection). This puts the club above the swing place. Remember your active hands? Well now the club face is open at the top, so.....
I say all of that to say, your swing is over the top. Your body has to extend early to make room for the club and your hands flip to square the face.
SO...WHAT TO DO??? 1)Use your body to start the club back so the clubhead is outside of the hands when the shaft is parallel. 2) Keep your connection with your arms (just think "Put the club behind my shoulder"). You want to see your left arm on or slightly below your shoulder plane. 3) Hit it with the wrath of God!
Hope this helps!
Hi @sanjay - While I personally must refrain from analyzing swing videos here in the Forum so as not to conflict with the V1 services I offer, others in the community are most welcome to view your swing and offer their commentary (at your own risk...🤣). What I can do for you here, however, is point you to some lessons and drills that may help you.
First of all, in the Downswing chapter of the Fixing Common Swing Problems part of the school, I'd like you to view the lessons specific to Problem #3 - Early Extension and work on the drills provided therein. HERE is the first of these three videos.
Additionally, please watch this KFC Club members episode that I just released today, and then proceed to work on the 90% Weight-Forward/Arms Straight drill referenced in that video until you are achieving consistently crispy impact.
Please update us on your progress after working through these suggested lessons and drills.
Thanks!
Tom
