For me, can I get decent distance even on longer clubs by going back only about half as much, say to 9 or 10 o'clock? Any advice on how to make that work well?
I guess left arm is the lead arm. 10 is enough if you use the wrist hinge. The correct downswing-moves gave me more distance. Look at the swing of Jon Rahm.
You should send a video to Tom to get more information to optimice your swing.
9 or 10 o' clock seems not to be the problem.
I may be total wrong, if you hit a 5 iron more than 200 yards 🤐
@rmalaspina - 10:00 is fine, as @Rudi (from Munich) suggests. If that is where your lead arm is when your body reaches its natural stopping - and assuming your setup is correct to facilitate a free flowing hip and shoulder turn - then any effort to go beyond that will only lead to various breakdowns and inconsistency. Rahm is a good example. So is Tony Finau.
