Gosh I am so scared of going into the land of continuing to turn to achieve a Tom-esque top of backswing I think my chest is turning 90 degrees, but I don’t feel like I get the depth
@Tom any tips or suggestions? I also like the head tilt! Any references to your videos regarding that also?
YES, @ihmpadre - 2.8 is the swing indeed!! The only things we really need to do beyond that - and then only once it is mastered - is add the remaining power accumulators. Until that point, no need to freak... 🤣 .... just get out there and practice and play with 2.8 - you won't be disappointed, and you'll have plenty of effortless distance to get around the course! And thanks for bringing your 2.8 epiphany to light because, unlike what was done - or rather, not done - with regard to the "Third Secret", let us not suppress this important secret from a (golfing) world so desperately in need of the truth...🙄😑😎
Great job figuring it out!!!

Right elbow pit magic move
I trusted and just did the third 2.8 video (MASTER THIS DRILL) on blind faith as a new movement pattern and never before experienced an automatic crispy iron shot every single time. All the other videos are just commentary. This is the swing!
My observation--I was freaked at first because my right elbow pit, that was facing out at address, was still facing out at the top. And that was OK and even necessary. It just looks better when the arms are closer together at address (and thus at the top). And with the upper arms glued, my wrists are real loose the whole time. With the club securely gripped, I even waggle like Tom. 2.8 is the SECRET IN MODERN SPORTS.
It was kinda like staring at an ugly zit in the mirror....🤣🤣
Good stuff! I’ll take all this into consideration! And hopefully I didn’t make you self conscious about your swing lol. That was not the intent ! :)
Yikes! 😬 I hope I've improved a few things since then! I've working (slowly) towards eliminating that Spieth-like broken left arm and Nicklaus-esque head turn, and since this photos is probably (hopefully) from last spring/summer I'd like to think that I've made some progress in these areas...
Quite frankly, @jon, from the face-on view I'd take your look over mine - I really like the steady head and straight left arm. I can't notice the depth (or lack thereof) from that angle, but one thing I might suggest you do in this regard is flare your feet outward a few more degrees to facilitate additional resistance-free hip turn; this would allow your hands to work inward a bit more. Also, make sure you are feeling approximately 70% of your weight on the front side at the top. Beyond this there's some info in the Power section of the school that may add a little length to your backswing without it breaking down, but no need to think about that right now. Keep working on grooving the good stuff that you've got going on!

Hi Jon,
Nice backswing... hubba hubba!
I can see how you're staying up against the "wall!"
A couple things I notice with Tom's photo. His shoulders are a little past 90 degrees, his trail arm is bent more than yours and he has a slight bend to his lead arm. I'm these are all power moves. I think the idea for us, is to get the swing locked in the way you're doing it and take ownership of that before we start incorporating in the power mechanisms.
I'm having trouble staying up against the wall and turning to start the downswing instead of starting with the hip slide...
How is your ball striking and ball flight with that swing?
