OK - I’m just a month into being a member. I think that I have the grip, set up, ball position and backswing figured out. I however continue to struggle with the transition and downswing. This is where I have always had trouble.
When I do the drills or take practice swings I seem to be able to do the correct moves on the downswing.
At the driving range I seem to be able to do the correct moves, but standing up during the downswing creeps back into my swing.
And on the course, I can’t stop standing up during the downswing. I‘m now hitting shots thin or slicing them to the right.
Which of the downswing drills or methods have members found the most helpful to stop standing up during the downswing? I’m looking for something I can do that counteracts the standing up.
Thanks,
Mike
@galloway8625 - Have you given the 90% Weight Forward/Arms Straight Drill a try yet? It's very difficult to stand up if this is done correctly. It's not an easy drill, but it is very effective, so be sure to spend sufficient time to properly learn, execute, and master it. You'll know you're doing it properly when impact is consistently crispy, divots are occurring past the ball, and ball flight is a repeatable little push-draw (and, of course, when you are no longer standing up).
