I have seen all of the videos. I am convinced that you have given me the right images etc. I have spent between 20-30 thousand dollars in lessons etc. I feel dumb saying this but I have never learned the proper swing. I have always swung with my arms and as you call it "chopping" at the ball. I have been practicing non-stop and feel like I can do this but I have the hardest time slowing down my arms from getting fired up from the top. I need to speed up my lower body and slow down my arms. Any tips and or drills will be appreciated.
Thanks
Thank you very much Don for the suggestion. I am not quite ready for sending the video since I am not able to do the basics per Tom's videos. I am the world's tightest person and we all know that tension and golf go together. I need to be able to pull of a swing without getting tensed up. I am working on it!
I requested a V1 analysis recently and Tom responded very quickly with some very useful advice. It's one thing to watch the videos but it is quite another to have Tom distill his lessons to things you specifically need to work on. Along with analysis of setup and swing he provided a series of drills that applied directly to my issues. Highly recommend! Going back for another look very soon.
We can always arrange for a private lesson, Abdul - either in person or online. Lesson requests can be sent to lessons@saguto.golf.
One great thing about this swing is that you can still achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will refer students back to Chapter 2 of the Golf Swing Simplified course when they experience a hiccup or perceived setback. That chapter reinforces the body motions and the weight-forward component, and it culminates with what I call "The Best Golf Swing Practice Drill of All Time" (there are 3 separate videos specific to this drill; I've provided the link to the first of these). Master that drill and you can then actually use the somewhat abbreviated swing it provides on the course and play very well with it!
Specific to the "chopping" (over-the-top) move, the Downswing chapter in the Fixing Common Swing Problems section of the school contains seven videos specific to what I refer to as "Problem #1 - Steep Downswing".
Beyond that, please give some thought to the V1 Swing Video Analysis - an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You may arrange for this here: https://app.v1sports.com/Saguto-Golf
Sign up to lessons from Tom at Saguto golf . He presents everything about the swing in a very enthusiastic manner . You can keep all the various parts of the swing on your phone . I was taught the old way . High hands , move off the ball . Now I am a Stack & Tilt golfer . But you have to practise. If you take on board what Tom is teaching you will become a great golfer No good just watching his videos . I am now drawing the golf ball which is something I have not done for a long time
Tom can get you fixed up for $1000 LOL
