Hi Tom - @ 2 minutes into golf swing simplied - lesson 6.11 - training downswing sequence - your hands are at/before your right leg before you start to rotate the hips. @ 1 minute into Get out and Play - Drill #8 - your hands are at your left thigh/knee before you start to rotate.
My questions are:
1) am I gettting to granular/does it matter?
2) which position should I ingrain and
3) Does one or the other promote a different shot shape?
Thanks for all you do. Its incredibly helpful.
Welcome to this great forum community, @Peter O'Donnell!!
I can teach folks what the correct motions and prescribed positions are, simplify them, demonstrate their proper execution, and where possible - as in your specific reference - offer various options or ”feels” for accomplishing the same desired result, but by design it must ultimately come down to each individual golfer to interpret, incorporate, ingrain and, basically, “figure it out” if they are truly going to take ownership of THEIR swing! So, my best suggestion is to experiment with different feels - for example, the lateral hip slide (6.11) vs. the lead arm off the chest (#8) - and determine which works best at properly sequencing your downswing. Or perhaps during the process you'll discover something else that performs better for you.
Let your ball striking consistency and shot shape be your guide!
