I am working on the Short Game today and it is improving. Using different clubs to get the right accuracy and distance. But, my current post concerns the Downswing mainly and how my weight needs to be on the left side to prevent hitting the ball (s) fat. Today, when hitting several balls, they were crispy and landed nicely on the green. However, when not putting weight on the left side, the balls were hit fat. I really have to think about the weight shift. But it does work. Also, I was hitting on uneven ground and trying to simulate practice area as course play and not ideal lies. I assume the fat shots were caused by NOT shifting weight to the left side. Am I correct? The majority of shots were solid, Kristy ball/divot, nice shots for an amateur. I really like my new swing and surprise myself over and over on how great the outcomes really are!

@Patrick Anlauf - You specifically said "short game". Even the shift and lift guys agree that you keep weight on the front for short game. Rule of thumb I use, if my hands height is NOT going to my shoulder line, keep the weight forward. Like way forward, 70/30 or 80/20. That way you can focus on the contact. The tailbone to target drill Tom mentioned is the perfect rule for all shots, but especially short game because you're not consciously having to shift a ton of weight.
And yes....as you said. Anytime weight is on the back you will hit it fat...which is why you keep if forward.
