Hey there fellow students! Fresh saguto golfer here! Short backstory; my name is Emil, Im 31 years old from Norway, started golfing late summer 2021, and since we can only golf outside 5-6 months each year there is a lot of indoor practice. My handicap is 27 as of now(going sub 20 this year). Always had an inconsistent swing (as probably all high handicappers do). Bounced back and forth between loads of different swing types, but it always end up the same, rolling the club in, and flipping at impact and a sickening OTT move, no KFC and short distances.
Started the swingchange the 8th of march and have practiced every day since. Joined the school the 13th after watching probably 50 youtube videos and realising Tom is the real deal and someone I wanna learn from and support! Mainly doing the 2.8 drill now, and can feel the crisp on the short strikes, and sometime on a fuller swing, the woods and driver is a mess but thats expected. Steep swing, 8 degrees down on the driver etc.
TL;DR Hi Im new and struggle with flipping/rolling and OTT.
For some reason I cant find the video review channel to post in, so Ill post my video below. As you can see I come over the top, and get a slight chicken wing at impact. I dont have any face on videos, but Ill get a tripod soon for better videos.
Any tips/hints or remarks in general are very welcome! I got a thick skin so dont hold back!
-Emil
Thank you ! Ill try this out in my session today :)
it almost looks like your trail side is taking over. I have the same issue when I get to the top of my back swing I have this little 'swirl' or lift up with my hands at the top making the club a bit steeper on the down swing than what it was on the back swing. One thing you may want to look at is your trail elbow. It's not tucked in. This and make sure you keep the weigh/hips going forward.
here's a couple videos for elbow tucking.

And of course the videos Tom linked above.
A face on view might also be beneficial.
I love your enthusiasm and desire to improve, @Emil BaldBird! With your commitment to the program and to doing the necessary incremental work, I am very confident that you will bust your sub-20 handicap goal this year!
For future reference you may post your swing videos to the forum's Video Analysis Room, and yes - a face-on view to accompany this down-the-line perspective will be very helpful to your fellow members in their review of your swing.
While I personally refrain from offering swing video analyses here as it conflicts with my V1 service, I'm confident you'll find that many of the Forum "regulars" have a solid knowledge of the swing and can offer very valuable insight from their respective experiences. If you do not receive any responses, I encourage you to look at some of the other posts in the Video Analysis Room section of the Forum, see who some of the regular analysts are, and tag them here in your post (use the "@" sign and then start typing their name and the system will then give you the ability to choose that member - just like I did in tagging you at the top of this message). While I personally refrain from offering swing video analyses here as it conflicts with my V1 service, I'm confident you'll find that many of the Forum "regulars" have a solid knowledge of the swing and can offer very valuable insight from their respective experiences. Based on your comment describing some of your issues, I can suggest that you may find some helpful lessons and drills in the Downswing section of Fixing Common Swing Problems, particularly as they relate to Problem #1 - Steep or Over the Top Downswing.
As for flipping and rolling, the Flying Wedge Drill may help you overcome that impact issue.
My one general recommendation is that you don't try to do too much all at once. This is an incremental learning program, and as such attempting to address multiple issues in one fell swoop may stall your progress.
Finally, always keep in mind the V1 Analysis, an extremely valuable service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school as it enables me to put my eyes on your swing. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site.

Hey Emil and welcome to the site and your journey with Tom and Stack and Tilt. I've been at it for a couple of years now and it's been an amazing journey for me. Here are my thoughts about the takeaway.
On the takeaway your swing should look like this:
Mike Weir is a Stack and Tilt pro (Champions Tour). The feel of that for me is don't break my wrists on the takeaway and "shoulder down" at the ball. When I watch the PGA pros on TV I see that many of them do one practice "square takeaway" before they hit the shot. I've been doing the same this off season at the simulator as well to make sure my own takeaway doesn't cause an open clubface. That has been working out well for me. I hope this helps.
