Played today and shot an 82 (I've been shooting closer to 90). got the tailbone towards the target and also used the "dump the bucket lesson" and finally started nailing my drives down the middle and 20 yards longer. Putted like a pig but I blame the course!
Well done, @mizzo999!! An 82 putting "like a pig"?...🤣 Well of course it's the course's fault, but next time let's leave the pig in its pen and just shoot in the 70's anyway!
Congrats on an excellent round, keep up the great work, and have fun out there!
@mizzo999 - I'm not contradicting anything. It's exactly as @Ian "Twiggy" Jones says. You can take care of the majority of the lateral hip movement in the backswing, and then the remaining downswing "bump" should take care of itself on autopilot. I've said as much in other videos I've done on this topic. Without the tailbone-to-target movement in the backswing, you will need far more than just a "bump" in the downswing as the hips must travel laterally targetward through impact while the upper torso maintains the swing center. If this does not happen then their rotation will take over and reroute the path across the ball.
You don't have to bump if you get the tailbone to target. The weight is already far enough forward for you not to need to bump. You will need to bump if you're struggling to get the tailbone and weight far enough forward in the backswing
