Starting to hit the ball nicely but with the driver i seem to push fade the ball alot. being a lefty my home course sets up nicely for a fade. Just cant seen to eliminate the big push. any help appreciated
Prior to any swing intervention I would first suggest familiarizing yourself with the Shot Shaping Grid, which is designed to: 1) help you read and interpret ball flight, 2) understand how to make adjustments/corrections, and 3) learn how to carve shots in both directions. For example, a push-fade is the result of a clubface that is open to both the target line and the path at impact, whereas a push-draw is the result of a face that is open to the target line and closed to the path.
This is not about a quick fix such as adjusting the face at address or tweaking your grip. While either of these may represent a component of a solution, the key is in learning why the ball is flying a certain way, what is making it do that, and then addressing the actual cause rather than the symptom. This is how you will ultimately take ownership of your swing and be able to implement the appropriate fix on the fly if the ball starts misbehaving mid-round.
