There is a lot of discussion with tee height, ball position, etc., in relation with the driver, but other than how the clubhead should sit behind the ball at set up. Squared at toe, heel, or center of driver? Up to the ball or a few inches back?
I'd been experimenting with many set up options and been thinking it is a personal preference based on how the swing is executed. It changed for me because I'm learning to effectively swing the big dawg using the stack n tilt method. I was told, in the past during a conventional swing method, to place the ball slightly outside my clubhead toe because the weight of the club and centrifugal forces of the swing causes the clubhead to be pushed out which compensates for the center clubhead strike.
Also, a set up stance too far from ball causes toe strikes or too close for heel strikes.
This is where I second guess my driver set up. What are the key points should I be looking at on my driver clubhead lie and alignment at address, behind the ball, for solid consistent mashed potatoes KFC extra crispy contact by generating the Wrath of God in my driver golf swing and feel confident of that every single time?
I think its just personal preference. I like to hover my driver slightly. What we're being taught is to deliver the clubface back to its original position, so if you're set-up with the ball at the toe, you're more than likely (if executing the swing as intended) to hit off the toe unless you compensate somehow during your swing.
I think the below article by @mst_hokie is a great way to discover what works best for you
