I’ve made enough progress with my mid irons so I thought I’d better start working with the driver a bit. What a disaster. Apparently hitting great shots with an eight iron being 9° steep don’t mean 💩 with driver. Now I have to attend the funerals of an entire family of worms that I killed 🤣. Club feels like it’s getting stuck behind me, I can’t get my hips to move lateral (I’m set up with the ball just inside my lead heel but my brain is making me feel like it’s way further back), I’m steep and of course out to in. So Tom, I can’t remember which video you did with your dad when you did the “ Corral” drill. I think I may need that. Also anyone else, any drills or feels that have helped I’m open to suggestions.

This is one of the most common occurrences when folks are progressing well in learning process, as it's directly related to stubborn "ghosts of swings past" that are difficult to exorcise. Crispy short and mid irons tend to happen first, but the longer clubs present a challenge because the wider stance means the hips have a greater distance to travel laterally on the downswing. Quit too soon and their rotation takes over, rerouting the path across the ball from the outside. No worries though - invariably we get beyond this with proper effort and sufficient time.
First of all, if you feel like the club is getting stuck behind you, first make sure that 1) you're upper trail arm is not disconnecting from the side of the chest or sliding (slot-machining) backwards, and 2) you're not continuing the backswing beyond your body's natural stopping point (which is certainly a tendency when trying to reach for more with the big dawg).
As for the Corral Drill, HERE IS the lesson video specific to it in the Downswing Chapter of the Fixing Common Swing Problems section. You may actually wish to review all the lessons and drills in that chapter related to Problem #1 - Steep Downswing to see if any others work well for you in addition to the Corral.
Finally, per your request HERE is the Chopaholic Torture Session with my dad.
Keep us posted on your progress. We'll beat those old swing demons down!!
