@thomas.linehan - A ball position that is too far forward is a possible cause for hitting shots that are too high, and if your impact quality is good then this is the easiest potential culprit to check. Tweak your ball position backwards in small increments - an inch or so - monitoring height, starting direction, curvature, and cleanliness of contact over multiple swings for each adjustment made. It's very important to use alignment sticks when working on ball position - one on the foot line, a second one parallel to the first to mark the target line, and a third perpendicular to these to show ball position. I may be repeating myself here, but know that while I tend to prefer a ball position that is constant relative to my front foot, the Stack & Tilt book prescribes a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and incrementally more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs).
Let us know if changes to ball position do not correct the high shots you are experiencing, in which case we can consider other possible causes.
