There has been a lot of buzz this year about chippers especially with Ping coming out with their poorly named Chipr. I use my putter/Texas a wedge off the green as much as I can. I saw the Ping in person yesterday and it's intriguing. Very wide sole, very upright, and essentially puts you in the perfect position without any manipulations.
Has anyone gamed a chipper? Outside of your buddies shaming you what do you think? What did you take out of your bag? I could see having more use for this than a lob wedge. Seems like it could knock a few strokes off a round.
@Matt Kelton - If your LW and you don't get along very well and it's just adding useless weight to your bag, then why not test out replacement options? Chippers are legal, and the "shaming" only lasts until you begin schooling your buddies around the greens...
All due respect to a personal hero, Tom Saguto, I became familiar with Danny Maude’s approach to chipping and pitching before I signed up for Tom’s program. I found Danny’s approach simple without introducing a speciality club.
@Matt Kelton Hello Mat! I’ve never used a Chipper before. It’s sounds cool! I just use a putter, or an Iron. I think I need to go and try one out! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day and keep it crispy! 😊
