1st Again I can't thank you @Tom Saguto & this forum and my fellow(women included)forum members for your contribution to my success this season. I have concentrated on the basic KFC foundation and grid stance and hands and weight forward with minor tweaks for my"bionic" shoulder.
Started the year at 19.0 handicap and thats has been running since 2013 with a 3 year gap but GHIN was active when restarted last year and played partial season. So, this year with a ton of rounds in over the years my GHIN has come down to as low as 17.2 (right now 17.5). My Arccos software which is just tracking this years rounds has me at a 14.0. And the data in there is paying off like this online school!
2nd WHINING TIME (but a good one I think).
This week (counting today) we have 3 wednesdays of 9 hole league play ending on Sept. 7th. And then 36 hole final on Sept. 10th & 11th 18 holes each day.
Before todays play the last GHIN & flight revision was posted. To restate Championship Flight (10 & under GHIN play back tees) and Senior Flight 50+ (26+ GHIN play gold tees) & stay fixed throughout year. Flights 1,2 & 3 can move in and out of flights up or down depending on changes to GHIN with players to keep flights even numbered for the most part. Flights 2 & 3 play middles tees, flight1 plays back tees.
With this last revision I fell into the final spot in the 1st flight! Now playing back tees at 6491 yds about 400 yds added overall! 1 par 5 played 565 today and 1 par 4 played 440.
So, turned out not as bad as I thought it would be(I am not long of tee). But thanks to new swing have been WAY more consistent in driving and today on some of the longer holes and a bit wider fairways reached back and cranked it up a bit. Would have not have been able to do that last year, a testament to new swing and discipline. Shot a 45 in league play (need to do better). But that was with a double on 8 and triple on 9 due to drive left and hit the hazard for 1 stroke penalty. So if I could have just bogeyed those last 2 holes would have been a 42, not bad from first time at back tees since 2011!
Caused me to concentrate and play smarter golf with club and shot selections. Will definitely have to get deadly from 130 yds and in. And take chipping and putting to next level. And score on the holes I should be putting good numbers on! Really could be a kick in the but to take it up a notch!
Am on vacation for final week and finals. So will be playing 3 days in a row with last 9 hole league sandwiched in the middle with the day after, right back on home course from back tees to get ready for weekend final.
UPSIDE
I will be getting most strokes in flight for net score.
And would not be here to whine about it if I haven't made strides this year!
THANKS @Tom Saguto & my awesome golf junkies here.
ALL YOUR POST ARE AN INSPIRATION!!!!!!!!!!
@Tom Saguto You and your methods and enthusiasm were and are a big part of what was and is ongoing progress.
Love the pic.....branching out into Saguto suds now? lol I can't help with that venture as never acquired a taste for suds!
As a add on to post, I have been keeping the ball in play off the tee at higher percentage for sure.
So decided to give myself another gift this year for my progress. I like my M4 D type Taylormade Driver but wanted to see if I could get a few more yds and maybe even more control. Went down to Golf Galaxy with the purpose of hitting the new Stealth HD (been Taylormade guy since 1980's) and I did. Was on the sim for a little over an hour total on the visit. Brought my current M4 D and was really no difference in th simulator, even a little less distance and control. I told the associate that it wasn't doing it for me. He commented that he didn't like the new composite face either and said if I was willing, he be back in a short and was going to build me a driver that would blow my mind if I was open to something other than Taylormade. I said give it your best shot!
Came back with a Callaway Rogue ST Max & Callaway Epic with lighter shaft.
Would have liked to have the 10 gram lighter shaft on the Rogue but it wasn't doable. Wasn't much different after hitting them both for a good 20 minutes alternating and hitting my current driver in there also.
YES MIND BLOWN! Once I got comfortable and put just a little more into the swing with all 3 alternating, I was consistently hitting the Callaway 20 yds further and sometimes 25 the current M4D and the control was tighter!
Needless to say I walked out with the Callaway Rogue ST Max!
I told him if you told me I would walk out with anything other than a Taylormade I would have laughed!
BRING ON THE BACK TEES!!!!!!!!
