Greetings fellow Saguto UV members!
2nd week of committing to new swing behind me.
1st week only had 9 holes in league play.
This week 9 holes league play and continued with rest of round for 18.
Sticking with commitment to new swing.
I arrive about 1 &1/2 hours before tee time so have time for range work and chipping and putting.
Full implementation of swing with all clubs. Was somewhat worried because felt weird with fairway woods on range and was having some issues hitting 3 & 5 woods on range which are my best and most consistent clubs.
But am fully committed to sticking with this, only way going to get comfortable and relearn new good swing habits.
Was a bit more consistent but lack of scoring this week in league 9 play wasn't due to new swing. Had 3 lip outs on putts and 1 lip out on chip. It happens, stayed focused and having patience that it's only 2nd week and new things take time.
Big upsides and insights.
Getting very comfortable with swing. Only a couple of fades showed up in round but slight fades no slices!
New irons definitely increased distance but believe more due to swing (more on that in a moment).
4 thru 9 irons increased by 5+ yards
Strangely wedges PW, UW, LW increased dramatically.
My old lob wedge same degrees was a 60 yard full swing.
Now 3/4 swing is at 75!
UW was always 90 to 100
Now at 3/4 100
Now this is why I know a lot to do with new swing because with results from clubs I have in bag that are from last year.
3 crossover which is increased from 175-180 to 195-200
And the biggest eye popper for me yesterday was my fairway woods, especially the 3.
I stuck with the new swing and on the back 9 results started to show. Last 5 holes started clicking. 4 greens in a row in regulation.
But to get back to 3 wood which I can usually hit 210 from fairway sometimes a tad more with roll.
This is why I say swing is the major difference. Like I said was having trouble on range with single plain for fairway woods but kept at it and paid off like I could never believe.
Our # 2 handicap hole a long par 4 which I usually need good drive and nice 3 wood to roll up on to green(its a slight up hill and seems always a breeze or wind in our face).
Didn't hit the best drive distance wise but in the fairway.
Took out 3 wood and figured be a long shot to hit the green into the slight breeze.
Well stuck with swing hit it and it looked like made green.
Got up there and it was not on the green, went off the back!
Check with my Arccos app, Went 244yds!
What? It was right, I'm totally blown away!
So anyone having issues with new ways, stick to it!
I am far from there but progress is coming quicker then I resided myself too!
Biggest Insights
Swing becoming more automatic with hands forward through impact. I believe that is where the distance is coming from.
And setup is pretty much set(no pun intended)
Ball, placement and hands and weight forward and even turn hips toward back like drill and use that to signal to myself to start swing, last thing I do on setup.
And 1st is behind ball picking line up spot in front of ball and aligning club face at address with that spot.
Needless to say I AM TOTALLY ESTATIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS TOM, SAGUTO UV &FELLOW STUDENTS!!!!!!
