Well,
After having a nice out of the gate 9 hole round of 43 with 13 putts and a chip in a few weeks back. Which also cemented my ball choice. The weather has not cooperated on my days off. Have a 10:30am tee time at home course today, but that seems highly unlikely. Hit 72 yesterday! Today snow likely, not much but 33 for the high, ugh!
Upside, opening day next Wednesday forecast 78! So I will have to hang in there and hit the "garange" and stay ready. Going to use today to check something out. As @Russell Hogue, PhD got me thinking about wedges. Going to take my lob wedge down to Golf Galaxy and have the loft checked. To be honest even if it comes up at 58 degrees might opt for a new Cleveland Zip Core RTX 58 degree wedge as I am really impressed with my 54 degree Cleveland. Learning to be a bit more flexible in my senior years here, as I always been a Ping and Taylormade guy. I like my Ping irons but Cleveland wedges have won me over along with Callaway Driver. Definitely like the way bag has shaped up and looking forward to a smarter and more confident season.
To all those here and especially new enrollees, besides the foundation you will get from @Tom Saguto methods and way of imparting the golf swing. Don't overlook the aspect of confidence and trust these things will bring to your game that has a big impact on the mental side of the game. Because for me once you get these things incorporated into your game, the biggest factor becomes the space between your ears! 😮
Steven, I wish I had the knowledge of the clubs like some of you guys here do. I know I need another wedge or 2 and another wood in my bag but you guys know their importance more than I do. I look at my play this way. I know my 150ish club is my 9 iron. That is how I see things when I am at the range. So it is hard for me to calculate down, although I think I hit my PW full at 125 and my lob wedge is a clean 100. So what would a 56*wedge get me? I have no idea because I don't have one. So I sort of gauge how far i can hit a club and move back from that knowledge.
On that note I will say that I have at every practice gone to the 2.8 drill with the PW and that lob wedge and I try to see how far it goes with a variety of swings up to 9:00 takeback. I will start to incorporate other clubs as I move forward and I should be ripe by Aug 28th
Do you have any suggestions on how to learn more about the clubs? Or is it more trial and error to suite each persons needs or skill set and just general conversation with the pro shops?.
I will second that on @tomsaguto. No one ever has done more for my game than Tom. I see people at the range all day long and I know all they need is some Tom training and there will be some extra crispy club clobbering at the end of the rainbow. Not to mention fellows like yourself and @burkholder.ronald that help with great advice more than you know. I am just excited today more than ever to play the best golf of my life and to tell people where they can get it too
