So I got myself an early Christmas gift. Garmin approach s60 GPS watch. I love it. Changes holes with you, nothing to have to change, it tracks your location. Immediate yardage on your wrist, front, middle, and back of green. Even accounts for elevation if you want, simple tap of the numbers and it toggles between the two possible yardages. It's also a good looking watch, something you can wear out to dinner or whatever when done playing. It's not bulky or cumbersome. It has a lot of other stuff that I won't use, but the less expensive watches won't have what I listed. Another feature that I haven't used yet, is if you can't see the hole, for whatever reason, it has where it points directly at the green, so you would then just pick a taller tree or pole, or whatever that you can see, that is in line with that arrow. I have a rangefinder, and I have an app on my phone. But this is so simple and quick. One time purchase and it has pretty much any course you are going to play. The app on my phone lasts a year, then pay again. So keep in mind.
So if your spouse wants an idea of what to buy for you, or if you want to buy yourself something, like I did, I highly recommend. Also I didn't have to touch it for the time change, like my other few watches. I have to go on youtube twice a year to fix the time, can be a hassle.
I got mine at DIck's Sporting Goods for $299 plus tax.
Tom wanted me to post this and ask for other ideas from you guys, whether something you recently got and recommend or something you are thinking about.
Thank you
Any idea of it tracks steps? Looking for a dual purpose watch.
BTW, some of the reviews on the s60 is that the battery life sucks. I'm not sure what they are talking about. I played 18 holes today in 2 hours and 48 minutes. Lol, it keeps track of how long you played. When I got home and plugged it in, it had 73 percent charge. I sure used it a lot today, love it.
A GPS to help me find lost golf balls! :) Actually, a Garmin Approach G80 Golf GPS all in one launch monitor.
Thanks for doing this, @Doug S! I'll go ahead and pin your post to draw some more attention to it.
What's on your wish list, SagutoGolfers, and what possible gift ideas would you recommend to others here in the community??
I was thinking of the Rapsodo Mobile Launch Monitor $500 for use outdoors. However, it's only compatible for IOS. I'm a Android guy. Seems intriguing in that you can follow ball flight even when hitting into a net.
