Tom has tons of videos but these two videos REALLY go together, in fact so much that I think he covers 90% of the golf swing.
Magic Elbow
Relationship to the Ball with Tilt
Just keep in mind that the shorter the club the more you will feel tilted down at the ball. You will know when you do the Magic Elbow correctly when you feel your wrists hinge on the backswing, possibly much earlier than currently.
Plus, check out his backswing extension that provides a ton of power.
Plus, STOP doing "Equation Golf". The guys I know loved that comment. LOL.
@GolfLivesMatter What is “Equation Golf”?
Folks, these two videos are game changers. The oddest part is the trail elbow position is now promoting my belt buckle being the closest thing to the target post impact. My guess is the revised trail arm position fixed a lot of things WITHOUT TRYING.
The other part is my driver ending position looks more like McIlroy.
Do I want to know why? Hmmm. Maybe leave some things alone and simply enjoy?
I sent the two videos to a couple of friends. Then yesterday we were out on the range before our round and one of the guys wanted me to watch him to see if he was swinging with a similar tilt that Tom shows in the videos. He has a more upright arm swing whereby his shoulders start to flatten at the top, then flatten more on the downswing. He shoots in the mid 80's because his short game is very good.
Anyway, on the range he takes the club up to the top several times, then proceeded to do some full practice swings. His spine angle looked a little more like Tom's, just a little, but at least he had SOME tilt. After about 10 swings he said "I feel really tilted". So "really tilted" to him was having a little tilt. Then he proceeded to hit some balls.
And guess what? His ball striking swings were identical to his normal swing. Everything he showed me went POOF.
One thing to keep in mind when trying to mimic Tom's tilt is the body will not be used to the new positions, or in this case, a steeper spine angle, and especially on the downswing because thats where most folks lose their spine angle. When the spine angle is lost the right hand tends to want to flip, so the right hand needs training to realize it doesn't have to flip. That alone will take some time. I think his right hand flip is so dominant that he has to flatten his shoulders on the downswing, thus his right hand may be the biggest "opponent" to adding more tilt. Hmmm.
I believe a LOT of stretching will be required to hold the tilt because the body is not used to being tilted. This will call upon different muscles and tendons. Plus, the eyes will have to adjust to looking more directly at the ball which in my opinion is one of the harder aspects because it feels like there's a LOT less room for the club to come through with a more tilted spine angle on the downswing.
Every 1/4 inch feels like a foot when changing a golf swing. Plus, it's far better to have a friend work with you on the range than trying to guess if the feel matches the real.
Nice SagutoGolf "hack", @GolfLivesMatter! 😎
@GolfLivesMatter Thanks for sharing the sweet video’s. Great reminders of why I ended up here with Tom and the awesome members like you! Perfect simple instruction for my simple mind! 😂
@GolfLivesMatter Thank you for sharing the Links. I have seen many of Tom’s videos and condensing is very helpful. If I had to remember all the drills and content, I would pass out at the T-Box. 😓
