Just shot my fourth round in a row breaking 80. A pretty solid 77 on a course that I play once a week, but lately have played four times in a row. I play it at either 5500 or 6000 yards depending on which group is playing there. I play 6000 yards in the Wednesday league and 5500 yards in the Monday Skins group. My Sunday group played there today and I play the 5500 yards with the them.
This course has the slowest greens of all the courses in the area and I putt faster greens much better than slow greens.
The key, in my mind, is finally understanding and applying the tucked trail elbow. While I have done well playing with the 2.8 drill swing, I was doing that with a straighter trail arm, which limited my distance. After studying Tom's superb lessons regarding tucking the trail arm by allowing the trail arm to bend but keeping the elbow tucked and not flying out I have been able to whip the club through with a little more speed and less flipping of the club head. The strike is much more consistent, with all my clubs.
Posting on this forum is, of course, preaching to the choir, as everyone here already knows and appreciates Tom and his ability to convey, in so many different ways, the fundamentals, and the nuances of the S&T golf swing. I'm going to go preach to the guys and gals watching the free stuff he posts on youtube now.
Cheers!
Well done, @burkholder.ronald - you just cranked up the gas on the extra crispy deep fryer as your proper deployment of the "magic elbow" is definitely going to add some pop to your swing!! 💪💪
Thanks for preaching to the choir, and I appreciate you "taking it to the streets" on YT!!
Keep up the magical work!!
