meery Christmas Tom and saguto golfers!
hope everyone is playing great golf! Had a question Tom about the flying wedge I’ve been trying to use it for awhile with mixed results alot of the time I feel it’s holding off my release when I do it. Not sure why that is maybe I haven’t grown comfortable with it idk what can I do so I don’t have to feel like I’m holding it off?
@Glenn Oneal - Part of this is a matter of what you mean by "release". As you know, we're not actively rolling the hands through impact in this swing. The lead and trail forearms will trade places from pre- to post-impact, but not due to any type of manipulation.
The Flying Wedge is not a "hinge and hold" move, although you may need to feel something akin to that when you are first learning it. Perhaps the excerpt from the S&T book below may help to clarify.
Also, please check your grip because if it is too strong your hands are going to naturally try to roll/flip through the zone. By design the Flying Wedge will combat this tendency, and this battle will certainly make it feel like you are holding off the "release".
