Good day fellow golfers!
Handicap has continued to fall since joining the Academy and focusing on the game this season. Started the year @ 19.0, before the start of this week was @ 18.1. My goal of getting to 12 seems not so far fetched now.
Had a interesting day yesterday, didn't win so average is @ 20% wins, not sure if cashed because at this point Genius software in a funk, have an outside shot of being in top 3 in net but doubtful, so cash out @ 40%.
But shot 43 in league play and back 9 non-league 45 for an 88.
Know making outstanding progress because not satisfied with a score I would have been happy with in past! Plenty of gold mined out there yesterday.
Started the 1st hole with GIR and promptly 3 putted , 1st in 3 weeks. :(
2 putted everything rest of 9 but putted well, just were not falling! Close on a lot!( days like that happen) So 43 with 19 putts.
Back 9 45 was way better than score indicated as I really got a lot of insights to my new game and really concentrated on swing changes worked with on range day before. Of course hands and weight forward and really focused on setup arms out bending over and keeping the tees in armpits (weren't actually there) but kept that feeling throughout back nine.
The Gold mined was new swing coming along with new clubs and how approaching club selection and shot choice.
I credit 80% new @Tom Saguto swing incorporation & 20% new irons.
Explanation:
Before with distances always figured for roll because ball was not sitting up and stopping like it should.
With new swing coming along started on back 9 even more choosing clubs by total carry to target, whether flag or spot on green.
Found out that balls in past that would have rolled of back(just a couple of rounds ago) are flying higher and sticking.
IE: Hit a KFC 5 iron into Par 4 , thought man pin high but probably going off back was an uphill approach couldn't totally see landing.
Stuck pin high, nailed putt for birdie. This happened a couple of times on back.
Yes, there were some ugly ones on the back 9 but goal was to implement new feels and and drills from yesterday that moved changes forward. Will be more consistent as I move forward I know,
Nice to be doing all these things and still come away with an 88!
So, game is transforming in all aspects, swing and playing smarter course and shot management!
Thanks for listening!
Yes....what could have been!!!! 😄
But always can find shots!
Shoulder definitely restricts part of the swing and a chore keeping it going the way I want it. You know probably never would have know that if didn't go for theses changes. But the good part is I will incorporate as much as I can and will make it work with the range of motion and restrictions that come up.
For sure these have been all positive changes in my book!
KEEP SWINGING EVERYONE!
AND STAY POSITIVE!
Excellent playing and great update, @Steven!! Sounds like you're doing an awesome job incorporating those changes and - the most challenging part - taking them out to the course.
A 43 with 19 putts??????? Oh, what could have been............ 😎
88 is a great score and knowing a few small mishaps corrected would have made it better. Looks like your handicap is heading in the right direction!
