Yes, getting close to the MBWA & also feeling right and scoring and getting confidence back.
@Tom Saguto 2 things made the difference.
You had suggested that maybe wasn't loading the weight forward. And by chance when sharing some pics and videos on my new computer, rewatched the video analysis I did with you last year. And again talking about that line ("wall") down the left side which I wasn't doing and the big reveal was I had a tendency to tilt or lean to the right on setup. Didn't have that "k"and not against the wall.
So shot 93 , not great but a lot of good came out. Only a few blow up holes ( 3 Penality's today), 2 of the 3 came back and saved bogey with awesome putts. Again 29 putts on the day, 9 one putts and only 2 from less the 6 feet. Chipping waned a bit but mostly good. And that 29 putts was with 2 three putts in there.I have been offically named putter if we ever play a scramble together. LOL But the fairway woods were outstanding. The setup revamp is the ticket and just need to get a little better direction control on the mid irons. But overall the ball striking was good to great today. So the confidence level is back and defintely has a effect on the brain game at setup.
But the thing that cemented everything today was rewatching that lesson. (Maybe this will help others) I made sure I was on the "wall" pre-backswing. And the biggest thing that worked for me getting rid of that kind of right side leaning or tilting right before swinging. I did that by making sure I was on the "wall" and this is what kept me from that lean, I made sure again loaded on the wall and before I started backswing I rotated ever so slightly my hips to the right and that kept me from"leaning" and pointed my left knee forward and down just a bit preswing. My most cripsy shots were there and just increased and got more comfortable as I got use to that new preshot setup"feel".
2 more league plays before MBWA. And know will be going to AM with right additude and game plan to both enjoy and score well. Get it out in the fairway, make as many good swings on approach and let my short game rule the day. NO doubt I will be scoring my best rounds from here on out through the MBWA & my league finals on Sept. 9th. & 10th
Yes indeed. It is getting close. I cant wait to get in the car and start my journey to meet a couple of gentlemen who share the same passion I do and follow and enjoy the same golf teacher. Cant wait to meet you guys! I have changed my grip and I also had to make a few other adjustments. Her's why. I took some video of my swing, and brother I know why I am all over the place. My set up is good and so is my take away but then someone lets the monkwy loose and I am all arms and hands. I have seen that by the time I get my shoulder down to the ball, I have the club almost paralell to the ground and right behind my neck. Then I expect myself to get back to the ball correctly. Thats not all. Even though during set up I have that elbow tucked in, it becomes like one of the flying Walendas riding a unicycle on a tight rope. It is pointing to the sky. Then to top it all off, my trail arm is as crooked as a politician on the way back and I think even during followthrough and the icing on the cake is when I hit the ball I am unhinging and it looks like I am just not following through with straight arms.
Then again, when I smack it good, I smack it good and my divots are consistent. Power and accuracy are not. Went to the range today and worked on that grip and figuring out how to get my shoulder down before I give myself whiplash with the club. The results were good. seems a little more of a hip turn may be the trick. Unfortunately, it was so hot even at 8 am that i couldn't stop my hands from sweating. Even with these inconsistencies I am excited about the MBWA and can't wait to win the tournament and kiss the girl. Or is that auto racing? Either way, I can't wait to get there.
I also wanted to add this for us old folks. The story of Ben Hogan was made into a movie
It's called "Follow The Sun" And it is free on youtube. Ben is played by Glen Ford and he could really smack the golfball.
