Greetings Golfers & Golfettes,
Had a great season with much improvement(hence kicked to the back tee's in league). Plenty of golf still left to get in as weather permits in Colorado.
So, the only season cut short really my league finals. ☹️
Saturday 1st 18 of 36 tee off temp was 42 degrees with rain and mist all day mostly rain. Soggy wet, clean and lift in fairways. Started okay but by 5th hole shoulders could not cope with conditions. Toughed it out and finished round that got considerably slower the last 5 holes due to conditions, so a lot of hitting and waiting did not bode will for a stiff body!
Even though looks like mid 40's to 50's today(Sunday), looking at 43 at tee time and although no rain still very rain soaked course. Did not get any real good sleep(continuous), got out of bed a few hours ago sore right shoulder and left one (good one) can't move without pain!😓 Attempted swing motions, no way was going to work. So decided to not play final round today(not a quitter) but would end up doing more damage and probably slowing pace of play for sure. Did not make this decision lightly, but believe it was right call. Especially since getting on plane tomorrow @ 5am for a couple of days of R&R at friends ranch in Floresville, Texas.
All in all a excellent league year and still golf left to play recreationally. Had high goals that I did not meet but did exceed my expectations. Had a few 1st place finishes, skins, and cash finishes plus a 3rd place in 1st flight out of 3 times I played in that flight. So made my league entry fee back plus a little profit! But most of all, improved dramatically overall in my opinion(and was noticed by playing partners). This school and forum gave me renewed appreciation for this game and a path forward for continuing improvement and performance, been a fun year!
Not bummed at all, age and things and injuries happen. Been involved in other organized sports in my younger days and you have to roll with the injuries and situations that arise, all part of playing sports!
Looking forward to continued participation here and hearing about everybody's journeys and stories!
Blessings,
Steven
That's a shame regarding the conditions, Steven, as it was quite evident how much you were looking forward to the 36 hole league finale and also how well-prepared you were with your game and mindset. Sounds like you made the right - though difficult - decision to sit it out on day two and not risk losing the remainder of your recreational golf season.
Great job in the league this year, and thanks for the weekly summaries of your results. Your progress and attitude are inspiring to all!!
