Does anyone have good advice on a quality hitting mat? One that is long enough for you to stand on the same surface as the ball.
I am moving away from the "traditional" swing, I have mostly been self taught aside from a few lessons growing up. I played some good golf got as low as a 5 handicap and won our Club Championship twice (might sound sorta impressive, but our course is a 9 hole course that many would argue is a cow pasture with small circle greens. Essentially, if you can drive the ball it is a drive, chip, and putt contest). My goal the past year as my game has plateaued is to play my best golf while I'm still in good physical shape (essentially beat father time until my speed, flexibility, etc. start to diminish).
This has lead me down a path of TERRIBLE golf instruction ala GolfTec, I know! I live in rural Iowa with limited access to quality instruction. I still have a few lessons left, but I'm just not thrilled with the lessons or instructor. My golf game is in shambles and I have no confidence over the ball.
I found Tom via YouTube like most of us, I like his style and think long term the ST method appears fool proof and will be good as my ability to practice has gone down with 3 active young kids and more commitments.
Soon I have some videos to post and continue to work through the course(s). I have watched a ton of Tom's stuff that's free via YouTube.
There was a thread on this recently where, a student got some cheap matts from a local driving range. The range was probably happy to get rid of the old matts and make a few bucks. I think they'd just be sending them to the dump or recycling otherwise and maybe having to pay a fee to get rid of them
