If you're toying with the idea of getting hybrid irons, it's really hard to find an honest review........until now.
3 moths ago, I bought a set of Ram laser hybrid irons from Ebay for £100 ($140). I had been toying with the idea of buying a set for sometime as I struggle to hit my longer irons and my ball flight is generally low. I'd seen some reviews but not a lot of time or effort had been put into these so it was hard to get a good, general review.
On first impressions they look absolutely awful BUT you do get used to them after a while.
The sound of the ball off the club is pretty hollow and whilst carrying them in my bag, I'm pretty worried they will chip.
I don't think you can work the ball too much with them and I don't think they carry as far as standard irons.
However, they are remarkably easy to hit with an amazing high launch and soft landing. They glide through rough like a knife through hot butter and after a few shots with them, you feel very confident standing over the ball.
I found them easier to hit then a standard hybrid.
Like I said, I bought these 3 months ago and have now only tried them out today......what a mistake to waste 3 months of the summer not using them.
There is a stigma behind these "game improver" hybrid irons that they are for beginner and high handicappers, but if they make the game easier, then why not use them?
Golf is a hard enough game as it is, and one of my main stumbling points is my pride! After using these for a trial, casual 9 holes of experimental golf, I think it's time to swallow my pride.
LOL! I appreciate the standing-O, @Ian "Twiggy" Jones!
By the way, I just created a new subcategory under the Playing Golf Help heading called Equipment & Training Aids. Would you mind copying your original post here and re-posting it in the new section? It'll be a good way to consolidate these types of posts, questions, recommendations, etc.
Thanks!
