First, I have not hit my driver for a few weeks. and when I have been hitting practice balls I do not use a tee. It’s always off the grass. Even when I do tee up on the course, the ball is just off the grass if not sitting directly above it. I never raise it up. when I do my video, I have the ability to tape face on and back at the same time and can sync it all up with Camtasia. would this be helpful? Or a waste of effort.
I figure I can narrate what club I am hitting and where it went.
I will also try my best to do the V1 thing as well.
I am also open to any and all suggestions.
@Tom Holt - I think a synced up face-on/DTL video would be quite helpful to your fellow members in their review of your swing.
No. I tee up the driver as Tom suggests. I just haven’t been hitting my driver for a few weeks. when I said behind on the video, I meant down the line. Couldn’t remember what to call It.
A down the line view would be more helpful than one from behind you. The face on view is fine.
Is there a reason you aren’t teeing up for the Driver? Not teeing it up causes you to hit down on it too much. This puts backspin on the ball which causes it to balloon up robbing you of distance.
try teeing it up. Tom has good videos for driving the ball. He mentions that pros hit down with the driver about 1.2 degrees. But they have plenty of clubhead speed.
I found a key to teeing it up is to make sure at address that you don’t place the clubhead right behind the ball. Since the ball is forward in the stance if you put the clubhead right behind the ball at address you will be opening your shoulders and this will cause a pull or slice. Teeing it up will let you hit it slightly up and reduce the backspin. For us slow swingers that provides the best opportunity to maximize distance.
Give it a try and see if it works for you.
