Hey Tom, my iron play seems to be all over the place. I concentrate on the grip, set up, weight on lead leg (I'm left handed) and trying not to sway. I seem to be hitting some shots fat and when I do make good contact I'm no where near taking a divot. My ball flight is also going very high. My driver on the other hand has a great little draw and down the middle on most drives.

Good morning guys, you all were right, I was flipping the club and didn't realize it until I used one of my wife's exercise band. It's a wide rubber band and I made it to fit my arms (elbow-Bicep area) to keep my elbows together. No more chicken wing and flipping. This feels TOTALLY different and weird for me, but the ball first and then divot on my mat in the garage really worked. Thank you so much for the advise. KFC here I come. Cheers and have a great weekend!!
Make sure you are not releasing your “flying wedge” prior to impact. This is called flipping and it can cause fat shots as it lengthens the swing radius. Especially with short irons. With the longer irons an early flip can also cause thin shots. In all cases, flipping increases loft at impact. Review the 2.8 Drill and practice it until you get comfortable holding the trail wrist cupped through impact. You will be amazed at the compression you can put on the ball with a cupped trail wrist at impact.
Before messing with a swing that may be fine, have you tried tweaking your ball position? Could it be that the ball is too far forward in your stance with the irons?
