Hello as Tom says Golfers & Golfettes!
Here in Colorado look's like going to have another day today to get out, yesterday appointments clogged the schedule.
But in the interest of being held accountable by my fellow Saguto schoolmates.
Going to state here:
I am committing to Practice on the range at least once a week ( drills, drills and more drills)in addition to league play.
Went out and got a range punch card, so basically saved some money but am now committed to not letting it go to waste. (awesome practice facility at course close by)
Did the same with coarse where I play in the league for warmup buckets.
Starting from scratch, today hitting the range(weather is cooperating)
Will finish session with chipping and putting. New closer together stance and finish toward target.(even though chipping has always been my strong point , feel this will improve it).
On The range nothing but 2.8 drill with large bucket. NOW IS THE TIME TO BREAK IT DOWN AND REBUILD IT!
See if I can get a Video
Thanks in advance to all those who will hold me accountable!
Thanks Tom,
With a little more reflection.(sorry no video, was just focusing)
I realize the big difference was the setup and taking the club back arms straight and one piece and letting the natural hinge or wedge happen on the backswing and keeping it through impact. I think that made the big difference didn't have hands flipping all over the place.
Hope this helps others as well.
Thanks again.
Okay accountability and progress report.
Just got back from first swings of the range.
90 balls
hit only 9, 7,5 irons
2.8 drill with alignment stick
Then putting with my new Ping Sigma 2 (first new putter in 30 years had STX all that time with insert)
Tough when changing things that been going on for years maybe decades.
Alignment stick's might be a bit long even half way stuck out a bit and having 1 size up grips was challenging. But made it work.
Had trouble in the beginning but then settled down and seemed to do better at 1/2 to 3/4 . Had trouble stopping where out fearless leader(Tom) stops in the finishing part of drill. But concentrated on trying to keep the wedge.
Not a perfect day, but!!!!!
When I went to accelerate more full speed I did way better.
Concentrated on the pre-shot routine(aligning behind pall picking spot way down range and converting it to spot in front of the ball. Then grip and posture , weight forward knee bent. Really did better when after setting and the just concentrated on ball and bring club back between waist and shoulder.
Definitely felt a bit awkward at first . but by time I finished the bucket was more consistent.
The big high 5 that I know I made progress is:
Always had a fade that use to be slice with even the lower irons. Only 1 fade hit today, everything else when hit at full went straight and when ball hit ground went left not right. never ever happened with me before! Did have some issues on a few full swings slightly left of target but straight.
Without a doubt sticking with this. Weight forward and ball placement and knee going down was the biggest progress and correction that took hold today and believe gave me some progress.
I am on board and will take this first time out with a smile. That is why I stayed away from other clubs, wanted the muscled memory to start and get rid of old bad memories.
Thanks fellows SG students and big high five to MR> SAGUTO!!!!!!!
Yes sir,
Just couple hours ago. Reviewed gripping and setup and target alignment and pre-shot routine.
In order doing the curriculum.
Thanks
Oh and have red spot on my head from leaning against wall practicing turns, not to mention buttons up!
Duly noted, @Steven. You have put it in writing, and through my acceptance here on behalf of all SG'ers you are officially under contract for improvement. 😎 Now, just to ensure that you do not go into breach, you have ingrained all of the foundational elements in Chapter 1 as well as all Chapter 2 lessons and drills leading up to 2.8, right? This is our addendum clause....
Welcome.
