Not a great day. 😣
But no reason to sound alarm.
Shot a 46 in league and just didn't keep score on back 9 non-league play.
Just tried to put 2 shots together to no avail really.
But mostly my biggest mistake was before round started today. Been hitting the at home range consistently for 45 minutes to an hour about 4 times a week in between play. Been feeling good!
HUGE mistake this morning, shower as usual hit the Blu Emu rub on shoulder and back and wrist(tough being old).😁 Then said "you know I'm feeling pretty good, best I have felt in a long time".
Since I have had the junk in my shoulder since 2003 and got back playing about 1 year and half after that always took from 800 to 1000 mg of ibuprofen before I played. NOPE not today , I'm feeling like superman! NOT a good decision. Not only did I stiffen up, but when that happens you start to swing and affect other parts of you body from compensating for stiffness and pain.
Now I am sore in about 5 different spots, UGH!
Was suppose to play 18 tomorrow at my favorite little honing course, CANCELED!
So, I guess 46 is not all that bad considering not playing better golf through chemistry!😋
Anyone want to take bets when I will go out and play without taking 1000 mg of ibuprofen again?
NEVER AGAIN.
Thanks listening to me beat myself up.
UPSIDES:
In the past an off day would have been 50+ and to have this today and still 46, I know it's because of the changes in game.
Driving today was the most accurate of the year! Figure that out? Think I was probably swinging way easier and didn't loose any distance. And probably because of teed up. No resistance from ground like irons, my belief anyway.
My old golf coaches said MANY times that they wish folks learned, then mastered the short game first, then move to the long game.
Your are so right but I would like to at least keep the ball in bounds and playable to give the short game a chance.
Keep in mind that golf is not about hitting all good shots, it's about managing the misses. If you have NO idea where the ball is going, call it "slot machine golf" and have fun laughing at stupid shots. Then go and WORK LIKE HELL on your short game and ditch the driving range because in reality you will most likely have tons of short game shots due to missing greens...and oh by the way....WORK LIKE HELL on putting.
@Steven @fish4197 I have a long-standing tradition for bad play for the day. For example, last week when not playing well, but hitting very crispy shots, shot a 49 on 9 holes. From that point forward I turned the Round into a "Practice Round," with no scores and just took a care-free attitude. I had not played for months, so a Practice Round made me feel better and I enjoyed some company with a friend and fresh air.
It's a GAME...have fun!!! LOL. We say "play golf" not "work golf". Just go out and have fun because no matter the skill level of guys I play with, a guy who hits a 180 yard drive down the middle is STILL a GREAT SHOT.
Remove expectations and have fun. Laugh at stupid shots.
A 46 league play for me would have been an excellent day for me. I posted a 56 in my league this week. 2 strokes better than last week. Had a really bad 6 hole. Not sure what happened. Started out good then fell apart. I just stated to hit the ground before the ball. The problem may be between the ears. Good luck on the next round.
