Hello I play left handed and have hit so many driver, wood and iron slices in the past it became normal for me to aim way right just to hopefully land anywhere on the fairway. I went out for my local Saturday comp today here in Adelaide Australia and I ended up 5th out of about 65 players 100 off the stick and 72 net
(28 Handicap). I tried a wider stance with a little hip bump towards the target and I hit two drives in the trees (which I was not unhappy about as I hit my 1st two ever draws). I may have to put my driver back to a more neautral setting as it is set for max draw (Sim 2 Max). Most other drivers went pretty straight. and my woods and irons were also pretty straight.
I had a lot of 3 putts and some missed chips and pitches so there is tons of improvement to make.
Do I still bend my lead knee to have more weight on the front foot with my driver.
Thankyou Tom for showing me how to use this S&T method.
Cheers
Wayne
Hi Wayne,
I'm very glad to learn of your progress so far. Nice job! And congratulations on a great outing in your Saturday competition!!
Yes - a wider stance with the setup for the longer clubs and a little more weight on the front leg at address - around 60% as opposed to 55% for the short and mid irons. After that it's basically the same gradual loading of weight into the lead side - 70/30 at the top, further increasing during the downswing to 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 at impact, and 95/5 in the finish.
And yes - as you get more acclimated to this swing you'll definitely want to be dialing your driver back to a neutral setting!
Keep up the great work and have fun out there!!
Tom
