I've been working on Toms swing for 2 weeks now. I was having the most consistent results for my 35 year golfing journey. During the last 2 weeks, I would every once and a while hit it thin or slightly behind the ball. I started to try Toms one handed drill( trail/strong arm). After using this drill, I was able to feel what my weight was doing on my lead foot.
Now for the amazing breakthrough- feeling my weight PERFECTLY balanced on my lead foot throughout the swing makes me hit flush, perfect contact everytime.
I feel the weight in a 360 degree circle around my foot. I don't feel more on any side. Weight is straight down and balanced.
At the top of back swing, you can adjust your weight back to perfect before swinging down. This feeling of perfect balance on my flat foot is my only thought. Of course I turn shoulders, and stay connected with right arm but those are automatic now.
My weight is 55/45 at address to 70/30 top of swing to 95/5 finish. The entire time keeping balanced on left foot. Please try it.
@desmondmoss - Yes!! It is amazing how the entire swing seems to come together when we properly execute that weight forward component, and what you are saying about being perfectly balanced on the lead foot allows us to trace that circle without any deviations. You are absolutely correct in that thin (and fat) shots are typically the result of a shift off the lead side and/or not getting enough weight forward, thereby causing the low point to move back. Instead, if we can really lock in this component we will be permanently residing in the Land of Crispy Ball Striking Bliss!
Excellent job!! Thanks for sharing it with the community!!
