@Tom Saguto,@Russell Hogue, PhD Just got back from practice session. First time I have seen my swing via video in forever! Wow you were right Russell feel is way different then the reality!
I can't imagine what it looked like before I changed it or attempting to get to S&T. To me it looks so outside in on downswing and I am hitting the ball straight, maybe a push of fade on occasion lately.
So as per previous post if I had a reason to feel in a funk the video would be it.
BUT...I know the feel is different then I have been swinging my whole life and definitely has been an improvement.
Can't wait to see wait drills the DR. has for me.
I know this video session will be money well spent.
And can't imagine not doing more sessions in the future.
And I will never head to stickily practice session without setting up video for self analyzing.
Videos are on the way Tom.
Again,
Yes, I understand what is being taught here.
Like I said in top of post a real illumination watching the video.
But am excited to see what drills and suggestions @Tom Saguto will have.
I know I have made progress and have 40 + years of muscle memory to retrain, this is why I think the feel from the actual are so far apart but will continue to stay focused and do what needs to be done.
Like I said in goals post, now more than every I will be committing to full practice session every week. Hitting all fazes of the game ,range, chipping area and putting green. Of course the video will be no brainer on range. Probably switch to phone recorder instead of V1 app so I can keep it running and analyze later.(Focusing more on swing rather than back and forth to camera)
Off to league this morning full 18 with front 9 counting for league , Arccos in tow.
Thanks for the input!
@Steven so many people have the exact wrong idea that arms are supposed to be passive and “go along for the ride”. That’s not what an pro’s actually do. From the top, the lead arm has to swing down. For most people, you will probably have to feel like you get to the top, back to the target and swing your arms down to let them pull you around. Feel like the arm swing has to happen before the body starts turning. Fun exercise, take club to the top, turn body and watch where the club goes…it works straight over the top. Now go to the top, keep your shoulders turned back and drop the club to waist high. Make the same shoulder move and you will notice it has very little impact on club path. Net/net, even a bad shoulder turn (flat) will not mess with the swing path too much IF your arms drop down the plane before the body starts unwinding. In reality, even if you go to the top and feel like you swing arms down and body does nothing, on video, you are likely to see that your arms and body look like they are in-sync and coming through together…
@Steven oh the joy of seeing reality on video. It’s humbling isn’t it. :) I was coaching one gentleman and he told me “I get too inside and get stuck, that causes me to hit pull hooks. I did what I always do when someone asks me to help them. I busted out the video and recorded his swing. Then I was able to show him that he wasn’t “stuck inside” as he felt. But rather he was way over the top. On video the easiest way to see if you are “on plane” is to have the slow motion into impact, the club should dissect the trail arm at some point. If the club is above the right forearm (in between the arms) or as the gentlemen I referenced above, his club was dissecting the lead arm (way above plane). If your club is dissecting the trail arm, you are on plane. Here is a sample I posted before of my downswing. I was working on hitting fades, so the club face is super open here, but still illustrates the point. Where is the club on your downswing?
