Saguto golfers who play solo (a lot)...what are your thoughts? Pros and cons? Do you play better or worse?
I play solo probably 80% of the time due to my work schedule allows me to as most of my golf partners are working or what not. I tend to play better (Yes, I do keep an honest score. Why cheat yourself? It doesn't do you any good, right?). Occasionally, I end up straggling with other golfers which is nice because I consider it networking for playing golf with others in the future.
Playing solo allows me to analyze my game better. Taking notes on my score card to assist me with game issues later.
Sometimes, I tend to get too excited or nervous playing with others where I would rush my set up or my whole training goes out the window. That is one part of the mental game I sometimes struggle with.
Some golf courses seem to frown or not be so friendly with solo players, especially if they don't set tee times for solo golfers. Why is that?
Nonetheless, I had started a discussion awhile back asking where are all the Saguto golfers are from because you never know, we may get a chance to hook up and play a round of Saguto Golf.
What are YOUR thoughts?
I forgot to mention...I straggled with these older fellows the other day and they play a golf game called RABBIT. Yes, it's for money. I lipped out a birdie putt where I would came home with a little bit of cash. Needless to say, no one held onto the RABBIT and won money at the end of the round and I didn't lose any either. If I did win, they'd think I was hustling them. 😆 RABBIT is a fun golf game. Maybe I should post what it is?
BTW, @johnpfistnerjr, I just saw your post on the YT channel. Fantastic round today!! Very well done!!!
John,
I play on my own usually once or twice a week for 9. I find I sometimes rush myself. Not really sure why... I have mixed results. sometimes I do better, sometimes not. I do like playing on my own but, I like playing with other golfers. Whether its with friends or get hooked up with strangers at the course. Same thing, mixed results. I've definitely gotten WAY better about getting nervous or worked up. I try and not take any of it too seriously as its supposed to be fun. Sure I get frustrated at a fat shot or topping a dribbler but, I lightly hit the club on the ground a couple times, take another practice swing or 2 and move on. I used to get taken right out of entre rounds because of nerves. But the more I play the more I realize, a lot of people suck just as bad as I do! LOL
I think we already talked about where I am. Let me know when you visit Brigewater! It's only 30 minutes from here. We could find a convenient course.
I don't get to lay on the off hours too much, I'm one of those work day grinders...
