Tried two FightScope Mevo. First did not record any strikes, then the next did work but reported yardages WAY off. Maybe it was the environment in my garage but had no luck with it, never tried it outdoors. Wanted to love it. The ratings and reviews were GREAT for the price point so I'm sure it was my garage or something therein.
Saw the recent vids online about this new R10 launch monitor and it looks very impressive and in some ways does more than the much more expensive Skytrak such as swing path.
At $600 it seems a no brainer compared to the $500 Flightscop cost me, that extra $100 spent adds a lot more features, like the ability to play SIM courses etc.
Pretty excited! Just hope it delivers and can handle my setup in the garage unlike the FS Mevo!
@Twiggy I totally agree and almost said in my post this could make Optishot2 obsolete at the price point.
Even $2000 Skytrak doesnt give you swing plane or direct club face open/closed info, there was some metric on Skytrak regarding club face but not a direct metric like open/closed degrees like the Garmin.
At this price point if it delivers on the promise it will be like a holy grail offering. If it doesnt then I will be very disappointed.
Pair the R10 up with an E6 sub or something and that just totally expands on the fun factor. The whole add of it doing golf SIM as well just puts it over the top in my opinion.
I can see myself going to driving range and like Tom said in one of his videos "play golf" at the range...
However that said. Tom's advice to practice like you play golf at the range involves picking targets and not standing perfectly square on a mat. This practice makes you setup properly for a target. Conversely using the Garmin playing a sim course you can keep setting up square out the mat and so its not exactly beneficial for forcing yourself to learn how to setup properly. Sorry for ramble....
Someone advised me of this product on another post as I was considering getting an Optishot 2 but the technology on the R10 is far superior and Garmin are a great and respected brand.
The early reviews are great and this could be a gamechanger in the home sim market.
@RobH - We are looking forward to your review once you get it!!
