I did some research on the last name of Saguto. The results were interesting. In some cases the name traces back to Britain and Ireland, but there's also an element of Sicilian descent. Could be part mafia.
So I dug further in ancestry.com and found a tribe in Sicily was famous for huge urns and they had plenty of lard. From what I found it appears the Saguto family was famous for food throwing games. One day, a Saguto named Francesco tossed a food item and it landed in a bunch of flour, then hit a pepper bowl. The item was covered with flour and pepper. Then Francesco laughed and said "well, the only way to get the flour and pepper off is to toss it into a boiling pot!". The people were shocked at what happened next.
The people gathered around the boiling caldron as Francesco pulled the item out of the pot several minutes later. Everyone saw a new item that Francesco used, which was a stick, approximately 37 inches, with a flat metal ladle on the end, that he used to pull the item from the pot.
Much to their surprise, out came the first piece of fried chicken, PLUS, Francesco Saguto discovered the modern day length of the 7 iron, and loft.
Amazing story. I'm surprised Tom hasn't told this story.
Not sure about the British/Irish thing, but that may explain the golf connection and enjoyment of a good stout.
The Sicilian part - absolutely.
Mafia? I'd tell ya but then I'd have to kill ya....
