I really have been enjoying this new swing Saguto method. When done right, I really strike the ball well! I make clean contact and the ball jumps off the club.
However, I have found that if I get lazy or tired during a round (which usually leads to not getting my should down enough) I am in for Shank City!
With the traditional method, I would usually just hit the ball fat or chunk it without much course damage.
But with the Saguto method, the shanks can really screw up a round.
My plan is to not be lazy and stick to the Saguto Method, that I love so much, but I do fear the shank.
Has anybody else experienced this?
Keep your relationship with the ball intact! Wine it. Dine it. Draw it a nice hot bath. Whatever it takes! Do not let it get flat....
There's also this possible cause and fix.
Yep. Basically your swing plane and hence club path can be all over the map. Could be a shank or a skull or whatever! The possibilities are endless and I have experienced them all believe me!
So I've had this issue (whose name we shall not speak) at times too. It appears to me, when it happens, I'm swinging the clubhead inside the ball position and I hit the ball with the very end of the club face, as opposed to shooting hosel rockets. I did this yesterday on a 6 iron tee shot and I took a divot just inside the tee. I have no idea How I pulled that off but, this is proof of what I was thinking was happening on those errant balls. I'm not sure what swing fault is producing this... Standing too far from the ball, coming over the top or too steep. The divot was perfectly straight. Not in to out or out to in...
Yep... totally agree that the shanks can creep in if you don’t tilt, rotate and turn! The reason for this is that it becomes an arms only level plane swing. Very good reminder to keep that discipline throughout the round with EVERY club!
