Hi all,
Just checking back after week of vacationing here at home with family and friend visiting from east coast. Main thing was great to visit with brother (we are total opposites in a lot of ways) and nephew & a brothers friend.
Got in 4 rounds on 4 different courses and I resigned myself to get some practice, mainly enjoying the company and not fret and not to be so intense since this was a pleasure visit and catching up. That being said shot all 91's with one 92, only course I played already this year was last one my home course, the other 3 first time in years.
Like I said didn't fret especially that this group doesn't warm up! After the1st day, I just loosened up with weight donut and went out and played, did hit putting green for about 10 minutes. So didn't push it, just got to course with enough time unload and sign in since tee times where early and this was vacation, I just rolled with it.
I have no problem with all this except that they would get frustrated about continuous bad shots and chipping and putting. Definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results! Wides stances, over swinging back swings and playing balls middle to all the way back. And going on suggestions of golfers that are no better or consistent then they are. Putting, never putting anything totally out and wonder why they don't get better.
I just did my routine and when I focused I scored. We play one course that had PGA speed greens and breaks. 2 putts where like 1 putts. Finished the last 5 on that one 2 over. 1 day pretty much rained from light to moderate all day, but got 18 in and I will get back there this year for sure. Nice course, great shape, a lot of sand guarding greens and fairways.
All in all great visiting and fun golf for most part and great dining out. I realized after 1st round that maybe they like being frustrated as crazy as that sounds! Because really didn't want to hear anything even though they asked.
I did say the first day, you keep doing same things over and over and expect different results not going to happen. And I had shared videos from Tom with them and they said they did watch and want to change and liked it but was hard. So I took that as not wanting to put the work in, which is okay, just have to reside yourself you game is pretty much going to stay the same. Which is why I said the may like being frustrated because know what they have to do but don't want to do it! And all 3 are retired!
Anyway I had a blast and had some crazy things happen. Must of accidently hit my crossover 3 iron on something or somehow or just was getting old since I did acquire that used. On one back swing, clubhead flew off and was left with shaft in hands! Brand new one, not used due in today, can't be without that club in league play. The rainy day didn't use Arccos app(didn't use all week actually, wasn't intense serious play). And somehow phone fell out of cart and didn't notice(should have been in bag & was after that rest of week). Noticed when we were leaving when was looking for phone. Long story short we got website to ping in and bring up location and the course management realized what hole it was on and let me take a cart to go look for it and one ranger also took a cart and came out with me. We found it on 17 and in the rain soaked fairway phone was okay.
So quite the week and ready for final 3 weeks of league play and the 36 hole weekend final on Sept. 10th & 11th. Only downside(not really) was didn't play in the league this past week. Reason say downside was in the groove with a 41 & 40 past 2 weeks in league play with a tie for 1st and 1st place finish respectively.
And like @Russell Hogue, PhD stated in post. I played the gold (senior) Tee's with them except on home course to enjoy the company and work on iron play even though was somewhat of casual outings.
Thanks for listening.
Glad y'all had a great time, @Steven!!
@Steven Welcome back! Sounds like you had quite the experience. I just love this game called Golf! Sounds like you do too!
sounds like a great time. speaking of insanity. I keep telling my son-in-law to stop swaying his hips. He goes back at least 6 inches. He then scratches his head and wonders why he tops the ball. But he does it over and over. FIX IT!!! He's lost in youtube golf video oblivion.
Sounds like a great time!
