Tom I have a good understanding of what you want me to do. My problem is I try very hard to get the positions right and I found my self with a lot of tension. on a scale of 1-10 how much tension do you have in your shoulders, hands and hips. Recently I try to almost feel 1 in tension from the top. My lead shoulder is down deep and I try to keep my arms straight. Unfortunately the gorilla comes out and I lose control .
Thank you
@pjwgolf69 - I strive for no tension at all as that is the surest of swing wreckers. I do understand that it can take much time and effort to put the gorilla in his cage, but it will definitely be worth it!
As it relates to grip pressure, this is more a matter of individual uniqueness. For example, a 2 out of 10 to a strong guy like Sam Snead may have felt like a 7 out of 10 to another golfer. We definitely don't want that handle swimming around in our hands because we're so loosey goosey that we can't control the clubface. A secure grip and soft arms is what we're after here. That prescription will certainly resonate differently for different folks, but the key is that our grip pressure should give us complete control of the club while not introducing tension to the hands, wrists, arms, shoulders and elsewhere, as that will prevent us from properly executing the motions. Finding that sweet spot is a highly individual thing, and it is critical to consistently blissful ballstriking.
If you search the word "tension" in the SagutoGolf YouTube channel you'll find some lessons on the topic from my archives. They're relatively short videos, but perhaps you might find a nugget or two of useful information.
