Okay,
First round over, only played 9 for league. Recovering from chest & sinus infection from last Friday was glad I was able to get out and play.
Was at course 1 1/2 before tee time hit large bucket to warm up and get somewhat a feel for the new G425's. Then1/2 hr. on putting green with new Ping Asner 2 putter.
Up and down 9 but really gleaned a lot from post round self evaluation.
Down Sides
When I didn't strike the ball solid it was because I was having too much in swing keys.
The Key for me even in the old swing was once I was set I let it roll just concentrating on the back of the ball and 2 other keys at most.
As much as I do well on range, have to incorporate new swing with same comfort of old swing in sense of being relaxed and confident.
Up Sides
Putting and new putter were outstanding and really like the feel of this putter and this is after using same putter(STX) for 20+ years.
Grade B+
Chipping and putting from off green(which I vowed to do more of this year)
Grade B-
Driving and fairway woods just never got comfortable
Grade C+
Irons
When had good strikes, straight and not a fade or slice to be found. Even my 3 crossover of the tee into the wind on a 190 par 3 carried of the back a bit . So am getting better distance with irons and clubs overall.
Grade B
OVERALL..
Although didn't score well, I am truly overjoyed.
Putting together a new swing after 30 plus years, I am more than happy. Especially that even though I haven't got the perfect KFC consistently yet. The changes I have made have turned my ball striking into something I have never had.
Take all the good hits.(not going to look at the ones I know I missed for reasons of concentration rather then execution), Not a fade or slice to be found today! On any club!
So now looking at the day. I know what swing keys will incorporate from now on.
Once I am set and balanced weight slight forward hands forward and hips slightly turned.
Takeaway keep club on the single round the body plain and key my eye on the back of the ball and accelerate through!
Those where by far my best strikes today.
There you have it.
Thanks Tom & Saguto golfer family.
Thanks @TomSaguto,
It is amazing how much hindsight seems to be getting brighter as I reflect back. Can do a lot of drills and swings on the range, but on course and in play is a whole other level and feel I will glean more each time. Still will be sticking to practice time and drills for sure. But I felt like I got a lot of feedback we just don't get at range.
Like I said having a straight shot now, no fades or slices was incredible when I realized it!
And have no reservations about the new irons, so smooth and pure. And I found the contact point for me in the new swing is a bit further back then a club head off the inside left heel, more like 2 clubheads for now for me to feel comfortable.
Will keep all posted!
@Patrick Anlauf still have that bklynese in my writing:)
