Tom: Working on keeping the left side straight on the back swing. Difficult to keep the left knee from collapsing toward the right knee on the backswing. Looks better on practice swings then on real swings. I also feel the backswing is more restricted when trying to "lock" the left knee. It seem also to be more of a problem when trying to make a bigger hip turn on the backswing. I do have a better feeling that getting the left shoulder down helps. Interested in your thoughts. Have made progress with less with roll on the backswing.

Thanks. Very helpful. Will send repeat video as I see improvement
Hey Rick, thank you for the detailed feedback!
The feeling of more restriction due to the lead knee staying in position is normal - you are training to get used to a completely front-sided swing, a swing that doesn't rely on shifting or swaying.
From a posted front side, you will begin to learn how to rotate the hips. The only way you can bring the club back further with the weight on the front leg is by allowing the hips to turn.
You can think of the restriction as being a "limiter" in a sense that this position is where the shoulders stop turning - your backswing should stop in that position. In your old swing, your arms would continue past this point because the left knee was breaking down.
I really love the 90% weight forward drill for this reason - you can truly feel the posting on the front side from backswing through impact. You can feel what a front-sided swing is meant to be like.
I hope this helps!
Tom
