Hi Tom,
I recently got the V one golf app with their discount. It is a wealth of information and I can imagine could be a spiral of death or a blessing.
Would you give any advice on how to utilize it best? There are a lot of drills and videos of pro swings. I know that it can be a trap to try to imitate your favorite golfer, but I was wondering if you had advice on mimicking certain golfers that had more S&T elements to them?
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for taking time to respond to this!
Hi Samuel, it is a very powerful app. There is a saying, "With great POWER comes great RESPONSIBILITY" and that's the truth when using something to improve your game - a tool is only as good as the user's knowledge of how to use it.
That being said, I cannot recommend their drills in the app at this time because:
I haven't had a chance to view them and determine what swing style the instructors are teaching
I know that instructors in there teach styles that are contrary to what I am teaching you in the SagutoGolf school.
The best way to use the app is to record your swings and analyze/compare them with two models. I use these two tour models when comparing my swing:
Face On - Sean O'Hair
Down the Line - Charlie Wi Driver
You can also import Charlie Wi to the app as a model for both down the line and face on views.
In general, look to model golfers who:
Stay centered in the entire swing (shoulders turn in a circle)
Keep weight forward throughout the swing
Turn their hips and straighten the trail leg in the backswing
Swing their hands in (hands behind the trail shoulder located in the middle of the trail bicep)
I also have some things cooking up in SagutoGolf that will greatly improve your ability to analyze your swing - It's all secret for now!
