A lot of the courses in my area don’t have practice ranges. What do you guys do to get warm and loose without range balls. My back 9 is always better than my first. I just want to start hot instead of getting hot
I've been doing the Superspeed training for the last 10 weeks and its a great way to warm-up before a round and actually it is proven to add a few mph to your club head speed.
Stage 1
Use your driver, turn it upside down and swing 3 times as hard as possible on your dominant side and then your non dominant side.
Grab a mid iron and repeat the above
Use your driver the right way around and repeat the above
Stage 2
Repeat as stage 1 but this time, step into your downswing on both sides
Stage 3
Finish with the upside down driver 3 times on your dominant side
Thanks @Tom Saguto I stretch a little and take a few swings. I’ve seen people use one of those whip things. I wasn’t sure if that was something people used. The courses do generally have a practice green so I will try to get in on that. I played 9 yesterday and started triple, triple then rattled off 5 straight pars and couldn’t help but think I could really help my score if I could start better on the first hole or two
@Cody McDowell Been there, done that. Even if the course has a range, invariably we will sometimes find ourselves arriving minutes before tee time and stepping up to the first tee cold. It's important to have a Plan B for those situations so we're not shooting ourselves in the foot right out of the gate.
Actually after the second hole I remembered your on course vlog where you gave yourself one hero shot and then played conservatively. That and remember the wise words of OMP
Good question, @Cody McDowell. I hope others will chime in with their thoughts. For me personally, after some light stretching and rehearsal swings, I like to find an area where I can at least hit a few short chips and - if possible - some pitches as well just to get the club touching a ball and feeling some crispiness.
@Tom Saguto hello Tom, speaking of stretches, do you have any vids of a good stretching routine before a round or range session? I‘m guessing most of us don’t loosen up the right muscles, or spend enough time stretching out. Even a good daily yoga app for golf would be great also, if anybody knows of one.
@jammn15 - Being a golf instructor and lacking any professional expertise in sports medicine or physical training, I defer. I personally do some light leg and back stretches prior to a round or range session. My best advice - assuming you don't know a personal trainer or have a similar trusted source within this realm - is to do a search for this on the web and seek guidance from someone with appropriate credentials. Golf Digest has numerous articles related to golf conditioning in their archives, so you might find something useful on their website.

As mentioned in an other thread and confirmed by my ostheopath you should never stretch before sport, only after it.
As warmup you should do the moves of your sport beginning very slow, faster step by step.
