Tom,
I'm in NJ. I'd like to continue working on your drills and my swing during the off season. Do you think hitting off a mat into a net has value? From your videos I'm guessing so, but wanted your thoughts about that. Maybe special things to work on since no ball flight feedback? At the range, when open, frozen balls go about 150 yards max and float like a knuckleball!
Thanks,
David
All good info guys. Thanks for the insight.
Awesome info! For sure not enough $ for that setup! What is the minimal ceiling height recommended for a full swing in my basement?
@davidyoung444 I hit off a mat in my basement. One problem with hitting off a mat is that it can give you false readings for fat mishits. If you hit too far behind the ball your club will just bounce/skim off the mat. If you were on turf that same shot should would be fat and grab mostly grass or dirt. I use a couple things to get good feedback on if I'm hitting ball first not ground. Divot Board is one. Another is to use a towel and lay it behind the ball a few inches. You hit the towel, you chunked it. Now...as far as ball flight. I don't know your financial situation but you could
get yourself a launch monitor :) I use a skytrak and love it.
If you have a space 40 yards long I strongly advise hitting BirdieBalls of a mat. Gives you a good idea of your ball flight and compress. Better than a net where it's hard to tell your flight.
