WOW, went out today and was without a doubt worse round in 10 years , not even close.
Nothing to do with a hard course in the past I have posted scores in the low 80's here even though harder then home course.
Big issue was no matter what I did it was non consequential! Better put, you know how when you get in the zone and can't do anything wrong? Well I was as far away from that you could possibly get!
It's okay though, I haven't had a day like this in literally 10 years. What was frustrating was no matter what tack I took didn't help. Yet on the longest Par 5 on the course, played it from 524. Hit it in regulation and just missed a 40 ft. birdie putt and had a tap in for par.
That is all I will say, score was worse in 10 years of course.
Already put it behind me and thankful wasn't league play, that is tomorrow.
To add insult to injury:
I lost my favorite Invictus ball marker.
I lost my my Arccos link that I wear on my belt(which I also forgot to hit start round). So new one ordered, too convenient a device to be without.
And I jokingly said I obviously lost my game today!
Add on:
All that being said, I have to make some adjustments. After some intense reflection, it is time to keep what is helping and jettison what is not working. We all have unique components of our swing and game.
It has been proved by my Arccos data, Saguto Academy has been a help in many areas of my game. Driving and improved chipping and pitching. (even though that was a strong suit, it has improved)
And I did mix in the "Grid" into my setup and stance. The only use of it from here forward will be the wider stance for driver and right foot a bit back as that has worked well. I have found that my shoulder does hinder some aspects of what is we do here. Not an excuse just fact and have to accept that.
Keeping:
So what is being kept and will find out today as all things stated here will be done today.
Will keep the flared out feet in the stance as that is huge in hip turn for my "season "of life.
Will keep the hands forward, weight forward and delayed hip turn with moving forward and slight pause at top of swing.( I seemed to not do the delay yesterday)
Will keep the takeaway and swing path on backswing and downswing.(actually making good progress there)
Jettisoning or changing:
@Tom Saguto , know you might not agree but will have to go back to moving ball position by club. 6&7 in the middle with lower clubs progressively toward the back and higher number clubs moving toward the front. As I have improved with this School, I have to incorporate what works for me and keep with what has worked in the past as that ball movement did get me 2 Championship finals win in back to back years.
But keeping everything mentioned in above "keeping" part.
And YES things put into use here have helped as the body gets older and swing speed changes.
So here in year 2 am realizing I did breakdown and start over and now time to marry best of both worlds.
Just thought I'd share.
Blessings All,
I know I am blessed and Thank God for this game in my life and Tom & all my fellow Academy Golfers!
I hope some of you glean things from my shares as I know I do from all of yours!
Steven
Y'all sure do get some very odd and random weather up there. At least we know when the hurricane is coming....
Nice bounce back! So how were your league play results?
